First, our good friends Lisa and Dan own a cabin outside of Fairplay, CO, and they invited us to spend the weekend with them. On our way up there on Friday, we stopped by Jefferson Lake and fished for a couple of hours. Ryan caught a couple of fish - two rainbow trouts and a mackinaw, two of which we cooked up for dinner. Lisa's cabin was absolutely adorable. It was the perfect cabin in a great location....just a quick jaunt to ski lodges, high mountain lakes, and hiking trails. We washed Jeremy in their kitchen sink and put him down for the night, while we stayed up entirely too late, making the guys watch chick flicks with us and playing old school Mario Brothers on an original Nintendo!!
The next day we headed to Clear Creek Reservoir near Leadville. The fishies didn't like us as much that day...no bites, but it was beautiful!
We came home Saturday night, so we could make church Sunday morning, but Monday (Memorial Day - today) we headed back into the mountains for some more hiking and fishing! We went for a 6 mile hike to Brainard and Long Lakes, which were at about 10.5k feet, one of the higher hikes that Jeremy's been on. Although it was gray and cooler, as all the weekends have been, the rain did hold off and we had a wonderful time!
Long Lake
We had a little bit of a breakthrough with Jeremy - he fell asleep in his backpack!! Ok, ok, so it was only for 15 minutes, but hey, it's a start. (This is significant b/c if he'll sleep ON the hike, then we don't have to limit our hikes to the time between his naps)
Brainard Lake
Jeremy's 1st fish!
It started raining about 3 minutes after we got back to the car, so we are super grateful for the weather on our hike!
Boulder hosted the Bolder Boulder today, an annual 10k run. This year there were 54,000 runners!!! Well, we hiked 10k today...guess we did the Bolder Boulder our way!
