Early Spring

It's been a full six weeks since we last blogged, so it's catch-up time. Let's see where to begin...

Well, the weather has been pretty cold and snowy (and looooong) this winter, so we haven't done as much hiking as we'd like (ok, let's not kid ourselves, I've been achy, tired, and well, pregnant, which hasn't helped either). Instead of every weekend, it's been a couple times a month.

Jeremy is continuing amaze us with his adorable personality and growth. Here's just a sample of why we love him so much.

It started off as a beautiful and warm hike, but when the sun went down behind the mountains, the temperature plummeted. We were not prepared, and Jer got really, really cold - turned a bit purple. Here we are having him walk the last 1/4 mile to the car to get his blood flowing.

We decided to get a family pass to the Denver Zoo; it pays for itself in just a couple of trips. The weather hasn't been cooperating lately, but we plan on getting full use out of it this spring and summer, though we've vetoed weekend trips (cuz it's an absolute zoo...get it?). Here's our first trip; the pictures look goofy b/c we put on the backlight on the video camera and forgot to turn it off.

We went to Las Vegas for Easter/General Conference to stay with Jean's family. My in-laws came in from California, so while it wasn't the usual monstrous Woolley family gathering, it was a nice chance to spend a little more time with a 'small' group. On Ryan's birthday (our first full day there), we took a day-trip to LA to look at homes. LA is one of our top contenders for places we'll move when Ryan graduates this summer. We got back late that night, and when we walked in, Zonda was holding Jeremy, who was covered in throw-up from head to toe. That's pretty much the story of the rest of our trip there. Jeremy had a fever the whole time and absolutely NO appetite, though he didn't get sick much. Ryan and 3 of Jean's 4 kids weren't so lucky. We didn't go out much during our trip; there was always a number of people who were just too sick to want to go anywhere.

Everyone but Jeremy recovered in about a day, so just to be sure, I took Jeremy to the doctor when we got back to make sure he didn't have something bacterial or an ear infection or something. The doc said he looked like he was on the mend from a stomach bug but that he'd lost 1 1/2 pounds! Agh! Luckily, my chunky monkey has a little cushion. We thought we were out of the woods, but last night, he got sick again and still won't eat. I've been so spoiled in having a super healthy kid up until now, I just don't know how to handle this sick kid thing.

This morning (April 7) at 6:30 Central time, my step-sister Jessie (my mom's husband Chris's daughter) gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Jordynn after less than 11 hours in labor. Jordynn arrived 9 days early, much to Jessie's approval, and is a healthy 8 pounds and 3 ounces. Mommy and daughter are both doing well, resting at the hospital surrounded by family.

Our baby girl is due in about 9 LONG weeks, so I'm very jealous that Jessie gets to be done being pregnant. My mom says she loved every second of being pregnant and even all the aftermath of early motherhood. Weird. Guess that trait wasn't genetic. :-)

We're also catching up on our family videos. Here's month 13.5 (Jer is currently 16.5 months).
